PURPOSE

Excellence in paid search is one of the pillars of our overall Digital Marketing strategy and is of vital importance for our site traffic generation. The Paid Search Manager is a key member of the eCommerce Digital Marketing team, responsible for driving and optimizing our paid search activities. This position will create and execute the adidas NAM Paid Search strategy, in partnership with the Global Performance Marketing team, and will work with varied stakeholders to ensure its successful implementation.

You will fully support the channel objectives to drive high quality traffic to US online stores to accelerate revenue growth. With a primary focus on eCommerce profitability, you will also connect with Digital Activation, App, and DTC Retail Team colleagues to fully exploit all paid search opportunities in the North American market. You will play a key role within the adidas US Digital Marketing team and collaborate closely with the broader US eCommerce and Global Digital Brand Commerce teams to help create a best-in-class US based program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Devise and implement the Shopping/PLA and Feed based strategy, while contributing to the overall NAM Paid Search strategy, for adidas NAM eCommerce campaigns ensuring alignment with NAM Brand and Retail Marketing initiatives, as well as Global SEM standards
  • Drive and execute on the day-to-day paid search operations with KPI and goal accountability (traffic, margin, and revenue) by monitoring and reporting performance to Senior Management
  • Work collaboratively cross-functionally with the US Digital Activation team, Merchandising, Buyers, Web Analytics, Global Performance Marketing Team and Marketing Activation to consistently stay apprised of inventory levels and product lifecycles that will better inform our paid search strategy across categories
  • Responsible for overseeing overall US Shopping paid search budget, evaluating performance of different areas within paid search and PLAs, and reallocating accordingly based on performance. Responsible for top and bottom-line growth to achieve sales, ROI, and contribution goals.
  • Aspire to be an industry leader at the forefront of innovation. Stay abreast of developments within the industry and possess the curiosity and desire to innovate paid search in new ways. Report on and present industry developments, trends, and case study results to leadership.
  • Act as a key NAM paid search expert driving best practice definition, execution and documentation, including training internal stakeholders for your categories of responsibility
  • Manage all operational aspects of paid search campaigns from start to finish in line with budget expectations and desired KPIs, analyze results, and present to Senior Management
  • Manage any associated direct vendor or platform relationships to improve overall performance
  • Drive testing, reporting, case studies, analysis and optimization on performance to identify key levers and opportunities for improvement

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Hands-on experience managing and optimizing shopping feeds, including Merchant Center management, feed structure and data quality governance, feed enhancement and optimization, troubleshooting feed and product disapprovals, and leveraging feed-driven strategies to improve Shopping campaign performance, scalability, and ROAS
  • Proven retail eCommerce paid search skills, optimization, and bid management techniques; experience managing high volume growth targets for complex paid search campaigns
  • Experience managing large media budgets and hitting monthly, quarterly, and annual goals for spend, revenue, ROAS, and other KPIs as determined by the business
  • Ability to produce regular reporting, collaborative strategic planning, and performance management that aligns with and accomplishes business goals
  • Embraces and thrives in an international working environment as a result of understanding the complexities of a large, global organization
  • Ability to balance pure SEM goals with overall business goals and brand priorities
  • Extremely analytical, data driven and a clear, independent thinker, able to efficiently distill complex information into strategic actionable recommendations
  • Familiarity with the broader online marketing context (i.e. organic search, display, paid social, affiliates, marketplaces, product feeds). Knowledge of digital attribution modelling is beneficial. Strong ad copy writing skills, testing process, knowledge and adherence to best practices
  • Ambitious, profit driven and interested in the broader business context. A desire to grow this channel with a strong work ethic and diligence
  • Strong attention to detail, flawless execution, time management, planning & organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage and influence others directly and indirectly; previous experience managing people is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, team player, and able to build strong relationships quickly
  • An interest in exploiting technology (feeds, scripts, etc.) to automate and scale key processes
  • Independent learner, self-starter, curious and passionate about eCommerce and paid search, with an excitement to develop and enhance paid search skills and experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; marketing, business, or computer science focus a plus
  • 3-5 years hands-on paid search experience (ideally both agency and client side) managing all aspects of paid search including campaigns across multiple engines and devices, bidding strategies, PLAs, RSAs, DSAs, etc. and writing ad copy that is highly relevant and targeted to the business
  • Proficiency with some or all of these SEM tools or platforms: DataFeedWatch, Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Apple Search Ads, Adobe and Google Analytics. Campaign management platforms: Search Ads 360, Kenshoo, Marin, Adobe, or other similar platforms
  • Advanced computer skills with proven Excel experience; Google Ads certified preferred
