JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Manager, Medical Communications leads the strategic planning and implementation of communications for the Screening Business Unit (SBU) Medical portfolio. This role manages a team responsible for, and has ultimate accountability for, the development and delivery of end-to-end Medical Communication strategies. In close alignment with SBU and corporate objectives, the incumbent will lead Scientific Narratives and Integrated Medical Communication strategies which result in tactics that support internal and external needs, outreach, and education. The Director, Medical Communications is responsible for communicating the medical proposition of the SBU portfolio and its products. This position leverages strong cross-functional relationships and alignment to ensure a consistent and aligned medical voice across a spectrum of communication channels.
This position is based in our Madison, WI office location.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lead strategy and implementation of Medical Communications efforts that formulate product scientific narratives, evidence communication, and competitive evidence surveillance and communication activities.
- Lead the strategy and execution of omnichannel medical programs such as Congress materials, Continued Medical Education (CME) efforts, and Scientific Advisory Boards.
- Lead a team that supports end-to-end Medical Communication tactics.
- Liaise with key stakeholders and customers critical to the successful implementation of a Medical Communications hub of excellence.
- Facilitate a medical communications center of excellence, establishing strong cross functional commercial and interdepartmental partnerships.
- Liaise with Medical training and information teams to identify and implement cohesive interdepartmental handoffs.
- Actively participate and contribute to Commercial brand planning and Medical annual and long-range planning for strategic alignment and prioritization.
- Lead day-to-day management and development of scientific platforms and narratives to drive consistency across medical communication tools and channels.
- Develop medical congress strategy and plans, including the execution of key congress tactics such as live and virtual booths, product theaters, Health Care Provider (HCP)-facing materials, video content, and/or medical perspective resources.
- Oversee budget and relationships with vendor(s) and/or consultants to deliver projects in alignment with timelines and defined objectives.
- Organize forums and develop processes to communicate research results and accomplishments to key stakeholders and senior management.
- Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and processes to support medical communications operations.
- Complete all assigned training and professional development requirements.
- Effectively manage, support, and guide your team, including, but not limited to delegating tasks and responsibilities, assess employee performance and provide helpful feedback and training opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D./Pharm.D./D.O./M.D.; or Master’s degree in Life Sciences or related scientific field and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Ph.D./Pharm.D./D.O./M. D.; or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related scientific field and 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of Master’s degree.
- 8+ years of experience in related field of expertise.
- Proven track record of high-level prioritization skills and project management to organize and execute assigned workload and employ efficient time management strategies.
- Demonstrated expertise in the rules and best practices governing medical education (i.e., Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education- ACCME).
- Proven leadership experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry coupled with strong team management skills and the ability to develop collaborative relationships.
- Working knowledge of US regulatory standards related to communication and dissemination of medical information and adequate evidence to support product claims, messaging, and presentations by applying the appropriate evidence for a product (e.g., FDA standards to Class III PMA devices, etc.).
- Proficient in using information technology, MS Office, PCs, and databases.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D./Pharm.D./M.D./M.S. in Life Sciences.
- Prior medical communications experience.
- Experience working in Gastrointestinal (GI) field.
- Knowledge of US regulatory standards related to communication and dissemination of medical information.
The base pay for this position is
$129,300.00 – $258,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
