Twist Bioscience is looking for a full-time Marketing Intern to help drive a major new initiative aimed at the academic market. This is a hands-on, highly cross-functional role for someone who can think like a marketer and speak the language of science. (Specifics of the initiative are confidential and will be shared with candidates who move forward in the process.)

You'll sit at the center of this academic campaign: helping shape the audience strategy, building and running the programs that reach that audience, and bringing a new brand concept to life across digital, social, content, and in-person experiences. You will work directly with Design, Digital, Content, Brand, Social, and our Events & Experiences team, giving you 360-degree experience in integrated marketing at a life sciences company.

What You'll Do

Academic campaign & new initiative launch

  • Help plan and execute the launch campaign for a new academic campaign, from concept refinement through channel rollout.
  • Support the academic audience strategy , messaging, segmentation, and journey , in partnership with the Academic Marketing team.
  • Own day-to-day coordination of campaign programming: timelines, asset trackers, briefs, and launch checklists.

Programming & digital execution

  • Build and manage campaign programming across digital channels (email, web, paid/programmatic, marketing automation) targeting the academic audience.
  • Partner with Digital to launch, monitor, and optimize academic-audience campaigns; report out on performance and make recommendations using data.
  • Keep campaign assets, landing pages, and program calendars organized and on schedule across every workstream.

Cross-functional partnership

  • Work with Design to brief, review, and finalize campaign creative assets.
  • Work with Content to shape academic-audience messaging, copy, and campaign storytelling.
  • Work with Brand to keep this initiative and each of its touchpoints on-brand and consistent.
  • Support Social in bringing new campaign concepts to life organically and in paid social, helping plan and post content across Twist's channels.

Events & experiences

  • Partner with the Events & Experiences team on academic conference presence, campus activations, and on-site brand experiences.
  • Help coordinate on-site logistics, giveaways, and academic-audience engagement at key events and trade shows.

What You'll Bring

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, with a life sciences background or closely adjacent field (biology, biochemistry, biotech, bioengineering, neuroscience, etc.) , OR a marketing/communications/business degree paired with genuine fluency in or curiosity about life science / academic research audiences.
  • A marketer's mindset: curious about audience, messaging, and what actually makes a campaign land , you can translate scientific credibility into a compelling story.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable briefing creative and presenting ideas to stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to juggle several concurrent workstreams and partners.
  • Genuine interest in social platforms, content trends, and brand storytelling; campus, lab, or academic community experience is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with marketing tools a plus (e.g., email/marketing automation platforms, CMS, analytics dashboards, Canva/Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Based in, or able to relocate to, the San Francisco Bay Area and available to work on-site.

Work Model

On-site; must be based in or able to relocate to the Bay Area and come into the office.

Contract Length

6 months, with performance and business needs reviewed at that point for potential extension.

Compensation

Paid hourly, competitive with San Francisco Bay Area market rates for marketing interns (see benchmarking note below).

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package.
