growthroles summary, based on the employer's posting.
What you'll do
- Guide technical discussions with account executives on prospect and expansion deals, clarifying native features versus custom work
- Examine a brand’s Shopify plan, headless setup, subscriptions, loyalty, CDP and ESP, then map the route to launch
- Create the onboarding journey for agency and developer partners, from documentation and setup through sandbox access and engagement rules
- Draft integration and custom-build specs, assess partner work against them and clear blockers for developers
- Send recurring partner and customer needs to Product as organized roadmap input
What you bring
- At least three years in solutions or sales engineering, or a technical role focused on partners or developers
- You know web and mobile commerce architecture, including APIs, webhooks, data integrations and configurable versus custom work
- You can shape an unclear request into a defined spec and clearly explain the available path
Who this fits
This mid-level role suits a technical seller who can give clear answers to both CMOs and developers, and who wants to build the partner onboarding process. It is remote and involves close work with Sales, Product, merchants and partner developers. The stated compensation is $150,000 to $180,000 OTE.
From the employer
At Tapcart, we believe every brand needs a direct relationship with their customers - one they actually own.
We are the mobile commerce engine that powers shopping for Shopify's fastest-growing brands. $15B+ in revenue processed. 200M+ shoppers worldwide. Brands like Princess Polly, Béis, Forever 21, and Young LA rely on us to power a large portion of their revenue.
We're a lean team with minimal management and big autonomy. Everyone here builds and code is core to what we do - engineers, product, leadership. We use our own platform, we talk to merchants daily, and we ship constantly. Backed by Shopify, Silver Lake and other top VCs. Profitable and growing.
If you want a place where you own real outcomes, not just tickets, you'll fit in.
Why join Tapcart when you have a sea of other options?
You want to be the technical voice in the room - on a sales call one hour, whiteboarding an integration spec with an agency dev the next
You're a builder - you'd rather sharpen an in-progress onboarding process into something scalable than wait for a finished playbook
You'll have a manager who clears the path, not one who watches every step
Don't proceed with applying if:
You don't use AI tools daily to work faster and smarter
You can't hold your own with a CMO one hour and a developer the next - both audiences need the real answer
You need a fully-built process handed to you. This one's yours to stand up
What you'll be working on at Tapcart
Partner with AEs as the technical lead on prospect and expansion deals - scoping what's native vs. custom, and giving buyers the confidence to sign
Run technical discovery on a brand's stack (Shopify plan, headless, subscription, loyalty, CDP, ESP) and turn it into a clear path to launch
Own the external developer and agency partner onboarding process end to end - docs, environment setup, sandbox access, rules of engagement
Author specs for integrations and custom builds, review partner deliverables against them, and unblock developers as they build
Feed recurring partner and customer needs back to Product as structured input for the roadmap
You'll be a true owner from first technical call to shipped integration, working side-by-side with Sales, Product, and partner developers, while staying close to merchants to deliver value early and iterate quickly.
Qualifications
3+ years in solutions engineering, sales engineering, or a partner/developer-facing technical role - ecommerce, SaaS, or Shopify ecosystem strongly preferred
Strong working knowledge of web and mobile commerce architecture: APIs, webhooks, data integrations, and what's configurable vs. what requires custom dev
You can scope an ambiguous ask into a clear spec, and say "yes, here's how," "yes, but," or "not yet" with equal clarity
Bonus: hands-on Shopify experience (Liquid, Storefront/Admin APIs), agency-side background, or front-end/mobile dev chops
Compensation
$150-180k OTE
Benefits
Competitive salary and equity. Medical, dental, vision. 401(k). Flexible PTO. Remote-friendly. Home office stipend. Quarterly merchant stipend. Lots of swag drops.
