Job Summary

Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of marketing strategies that support the growth of departmental programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Associate Director, assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies that support the growth of departmental programs, including developing and implementing messaging and timelines for all marketing efforts while ensuring that departmental and University branding guidelines are utilized.

  • Assist with implementation of web technologies to streamline processes to include departmental website and social media sites.

  • Assists in identifying the appropriate social media channels to expand Recreation program awareness and tailors campaigns to the appropriate target audience.

  • Tracks performance of various social media initiatives and develops/implements changes to improve goals and objectives.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Responsible for maintaining certifications/licenses as terms of employment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.

  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.

  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of adobe Photoshop and video editing software.

  • Knowledge of University policies as well as Recreational Sports guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe and positive environment for all participants.

  • Must possess effective public speaking skills.

  • Must possess excellent customer service skill.

  • Knowledge of content management systems and design software.

  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.

Other Requirements

  • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.

  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

  • Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.

  • Promptly complete all required trainings.

  • Submit time sheet biweekly.

  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.

  • Subject to funding and/or need.

Pay of Rate: $8.00/hour for up to 19 hours weekly
