About the opportunity
We are looking for a Marketing Manager, Customer Advocacy to lead one of the most powerful ways SolarWinds can build trust in the market: the voice of our customers. You will build on a solid existing foundation to scale the program, modernize our approach with industry best practices, and showcase customer outcomes that drive pipeline, wins, and brand credibility.
This is a highly collaborative role for someone who understands the full customer lifecycle. You will know where advocacy can create momentum at every stage: adding credibility to demand generation, helping sales teams win, reinforcing customer success, strengthening retention, and transforming real customer outcomes into stories that move the market.
You will work side by side with Sales, Customer Success, Product Marketing, Field Marketing, Demand Generation, Digital, Analyst Relations, Global Communications, Legal, and customers themselves. Your efforts will make it easier for customers to participate, easier for internal teams to activate their stories, and easier for buyers to discover credible proof of SolarWinds impact.

What you will do
Strategy & Execution
- Define and own a global customer advocacy strategy aligned to company go-to-market priorities, product priorities, and the moments that matter across the customer lifecycle.
- Turn strategy into clear annual and quarterly plans, creative campaigns, goals, and KPIs
- Be the internal champion for customer advocacy, inspiring teams to understand when advocacy can make a difference, how to request it, and how to create an exceptional experience for participating customers.
- Mentor, guide, and collaborate with a team of two marketing specialists to execute the programs.
Build advocacy programs customers are excited to join
- Identify, recruit, and work with the team to nurture referenceable customers for sales opportunities, analyst conversations, media relations, events, webinars, peer discussions, and standout speaking opportunities.
- Refine the process in how SolarWinds sources and delivers compelling written and video case studies.
- Grow and energize SolarWinds presence on relevant third-party review sites through thoughtful, compliant campaigns that encourage authentic customer feedback.
- Evaluate and, where appropriate, relaunch a Customer Advisory Board or similar executive customer council.
- Build and maintain a structured advocacy pipeline with strong coverage across priority segments, products, regions, and lifecycle stages.
- Design customer-friendly participation campaigns and incentives where appropriate, keeping trust, transparency, and customer value at the center of every interaction.
Make customer proof easy to find
- Partner with Digital, Content, SEO, and Communications teams to connect customer advocacy to Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and large language model (LLM) discovery.
- Help shape structured, quotable, outcome-focused customer content that strengthens organic search, improves visibility in AI-generated answers, and gives buyers compelling evidence at the moment they are evaluating solutions.
- Bring advocacy content to life across campaigns, product pages, sales plays, analyst engagements, public relations, events, community programs, and customer communications.
- Create clear processes, documentation, templates, and enablement that help internal teams quickly request and responsibly activate customer advocates and proof points.
Measure momentum
- Establish and report on program KPIs, including reference coverage, case study pipeline, review volume and ratings, advocate engagement, content usage, and advocacy-influenced pipeline and revenue.
- Regularly review performance, identify gaps in coverage or participation, and introduce smarter ways to scale the program without losing the personal touch.
- Use customer and internal feedback to continually improve the advocate experience and make the program more valuable to the teams who rely on it.
What you will bring
- 5+ years of experience in customer advocacy, customer marketing, customer reference, community, or a related B2B marketing role—ideally in tech.
- A track record of building and scaling customer advocacy programs
- A strong understanding of the full customer lifecycle and the role advocacy can play in acquisition, evaluation, conversion, onboarding, adoption, renewal, expansion, and retention.
- Experience using AI and automation to make marketing programs smarter, faster, and more personal.
- Curiosity about how customer proof can power AEO, LLM discovery, and the changing ways buyers research, compare, and evaluate technology solutions.
- A strong pulse on customer advocacy trends, emerging technology, and practical innovation. You have the the imagination to turn new ideas into action.
- Ability to mentor and guide two marketing specialists.
- The confidence to work directly with customers and sales leaders while navigating approvals, customer sensitivities, privacy, legal, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing customer advisory boards or similar executive customer councils is a plus.
- Strong program management skills, with the ability to prioritize, rally cross-functional partners, manage multiple workstreams, and deliver consistently against deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to turn complex customer experiences into clear, warm, and compelling stories.
