Job Purpose

The role holder’s contribution will be central to delivery and support of teaching, learning and assessment, across Business for the University of Southampton Delhi.

The role holder will teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level in courses like Introduction to Marketing for Business, Introduction to Marketing for Accounting & Finance, International Marketing etc and engage in other necessary educational activities to ensure successful delivery of degree programmes. Once teaching activities are embedded and successful, the role holder will undertake research and knowledge exchange in line with the campus’s research strategy. More specifically, research expertise in Marketing.

The role holder will undertake leadership, management and engagement activities and will demonstrate collegiality by ensuring ‘Southampton Behaviours’ are embedded within their ways of working.

They will be committed to high-quality education and support of learning and to building a vibrant student experience and community. Visible and collegiate, the role holder will be expected to contribute to all aspects of the campus’s activities, including student recruitment and outreach.
  • Support the teaching objectives of the Unit by managing a range of contributions to its learning and teaching activities. Deliver teaching of the highest quality across a range of modules and to all levels, through lectures, tutorials, practicals and seminars. Directly supervise students, providing expert advice on learning best practice and helping with development needs. Promote the use of appropriate media to support student learning. Set and mark coursework and exams, providing constructive feedback to students. Monitor, evaluate and revise course design to ensure excellence and coherence. Identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement, planning and developing innovative contributions to learning, teaching and assessment methods within the Unit as appropriate.
  • Develop the research activities of the School/Department by sustaining a personal research plan of international standing in the broad field of general management. Apply for appropriate external research funding and carry out management and administrative tasks associated with specified research projects.
  • Contribute to the efficient management and administration of the School/Department by performing administrative duties as allocated by the Subject Head and / or line manager.

Internal and external relationships

  • Member of the School/Department Board, Examination Board and of such School/Department committees relevant to their administrative duties.
  • Research priorities will be agreed within the strategic framework of the Department and UoSD campus.
  • Teaching and administrative duties will be allocated by the Head of Department, within the context of the teaching programmes offered at the UoSD campus.
  • Encouraged to collaborate with colleagues in the wider school business school in India, the UK and other countries on original teaching, learning and research projects and practice.
Qualifications, knowledge and experience

  • PhD in Marketing or a closely related field
  • Proven track record of teaching core and optional accounting modules at the university level
  • Established research trajectory in marketing domain
  • Track record of development and delivery of teaching at the university level.
  • Demonstrated international exposure through overseas study, teaching experience, or research collaboration, etc with international scholars/institutions, together with the ability to teach and engage effectively with diverse student cohorts.
  • Teaching qualification (PGCAP, PG Cert HE or equivalent). (Desirable)
  • Fellowship (FHEA) of Advance HE. (Desirable)
  • Professional certification or Membership of a professional body.(Desirable)
