About the team

This is a build role. Nubank is standing up its first Global Creative & Brand Foundations Center of Excellence (CoE): a central hub sets best practices, capacity planning, and quality measurement, while markets retain execution. You'll be defining the operating model as you go, in close partnership with Senior Leadership and the regional creative leadership.

The mandate is specific: Brand Foundations and the Creative Center of Excellence. Own the craft and brand disciplines globally and Execution stays local. Brand Foundations is a small, Brazil-based team (currently three to four people) that has owned Nubank's brand refresh, sonic identity, and institutional design system; Nubank's institutional brand work globally is also moving into this role's remit. Your job is to build the system, standards, career paths, hiring bar, tooling, and review cadence, that lets creative and brand quality hold as Nubank multiplies markets and headcount.

About the Role

This role owns Brand and Creative globally for Nubank — not an advisory function reviewing guidelines from the sidelines, but full, end-to-end accountability for how the brand shows up everywhere Nubank operates.

The mandate centers on two things:

  • Setting the creative and brand bar. Define what "great" looks like concretely enough that regional teams can hold themselves to it, rather than relying on a single senior reviewer to catch problems after the fact.

  • Building the infrastructure behind great creative work — tooling, review cadence, and governance — so quality can scale without linear headcount growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hiring bar & talent. Set and protect the hiring bar for creative talent in every market where Nubank hires. Recruit senior creative leaders and stay closely involved in senior creative hires as the Center of Excellence builds out. Coach and seniorize existing creative talent over time, particularly in Brazil.

  • Scalable tooling. Build the tools and workflows — including AI-assisted ones — that let creative quality scale without linear headcount growth.

  • Review cadence & governance. Run a structured, content-focused creative review cadence that replaces today's ad hoc, adversarial feedback loops between markets and leadership.

  • Creative direction beyond the traditional campaign. Push the creative product past efficiency-driven, format-first advertising toward earned media and content built to be genuinely watched, not just placed.

Core Workstreams

  1. Brand Foundations — Own brand refresh, sonic identity, and the institutional design system, plus Nubank's institutional brand presence company-wide, in close partnership with Cristina Junqueira.

  2. Creative Center of Excellence — Own creative output company-wide: campaigns, social content, influencer marketing, and marketing stunts. Set the creative and brand bar that lets regional teams hold themselves to a consistent standard — distinct from media planning and channel measurement, which remain with regional teams.

  3. Creative Production & Agency Management — Build an in-house production capability and direct the roster of external creative agencies.

Qualifications

Professional Experience & Education

  • 10+ years in creative or brand leadership, with a track record of setting standards across multiple markets or business units — not just producing work for one.

  • Demonstrated experience building the infrastructure behind good creative (career ladders, review processes, hiring bars), not only a portfolio of campaigns.

  • Agency or in-house creative director background; strong agency-side creative leadership experience is a plus.

  • Fintech or financial services experience is useful context, though not required.

  • A clear point of view on how AI tools change the economics of creative production at scale, with genuine appetite to build with them rather than bolt them on.

Competencies & Attributes

  • Comfortable operating inside a matrixed, multi-market organization, with the judgment to raise the craft bar without steamrolling the local teams who own execution.

  • Experience developing junior and mid-level creative talent into senior roles, including hands-on coaching of raw talent toward more refined execution.

  • Strong systems-thinking orientation: able to build the structure behind creative work (leveling, tooling, governance), not only produce it personally.

  • Comfortable working across English- and Portuguese-speaking teams, given close, regular collaboration with Brazil-based creative talent and leadership.

Our recruitment process may involve the use of artificial intelligence–enabled tools, such as automated interview transcription and analysis, to support the evaluation process. Artificial intelligence is not used to make final hiring decisions; all decisions are made by human reviewers.
