Job Summary

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the Communications Assistant (Email Marketing) supports the administration and delivery of email marketing communications for McGill Alumni and donor engagement initiatives. The incumbent assists with managing the email broadcast calendar, building and testing email communications, preparing audience segments, maintaining marketing automation processes, tracking campaign performance, and providing support to system users. The position also contributes to training resources, troubleshooting activities, and the ongoing enhancement of email marketing operations and communications effectiveness.

Typical Functions

  • Assist in managing our broadcast calendar and broadcast request queue

  • Assist in building, reviewing and testing emails for various campaigns and communications

  • Assist with audience segmentation and data selection in our CRM (Iris) according to established campaign requirements and specifications

  • Assist with the setup, testing, and maintenance of email automation journeys and data extensions in Salesforce Marketing Cloud

  • Track email performance data and contribute to regular reporting

  • Assist in building marketing journeys for key campaigns

  • Assist in training and troubleshooting support for broadcast users

  • Update and maintain training documentation as needed

  • The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent. For example, incumbents may be asked to perform some elements of Communications Assistant level ""A"" tasks in addition to the above listed functions.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Current McGill student with an interest in communications, marketing, digital media, business, information systems, or a related field.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Experience using digital communication tools, databases, CRM systems, or email marketing platforms; experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud is considered an asset.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to review content, prepare documentation, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and proficiency working with data, including the ability to track performance metrics, compile reports, and support audience segmentation activities.

  • Knowledge of French is an asset

  • Current McGill undergraduate student
