The Chief of Staff to the Chief Communications & Marketing Officer (CCMO) plays a critical role in driving strategic priorities, operational execution, efficiency, and executive alignment across the Communications, Marketing and Washington Operations (CMWO) organization. This role serves as a strategic advisor, integrator, and force multiplier to the CCMO, translating enterprise priorities into action, anticipating challenges, driving decisions and accountability.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, an exceptional communicator, and a highly organized operator with experience in corporate communications, marketing, business development, corporate strategy, business operations or related fields.
The work location is Leidos Global Headquarters in Reston, VA.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Partner with the CCMO to set and execute the organization's strategic agenda, ensuring alignment with company objectives and providing recommendations informed by business priorities, market trends, and competitive insights.
- Establish disciplined mechanisms to prioritize, track, escalate, and drive closure of commitments
- Lead special projects and initiatives that improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of the CMWO organization.
- Work closely with HR and Finance to support CMWO budgeting, staffing plans, and related operational processes.
- Anticipate emerging challenges, organizational risks, competing priorities, and decision points for the CCMO.
- Apply sound judgement to determine what requires the CCMO’s attention vs. what can be resolved through the Leadership team
- Pressure-test plans and recommendations and service as a candid thought partner
Executive Operations & Coordination
- Partner with the CCMO Executive Assistant to manage the organization's business rhythm, key timelines, leadership meetings, and all-team meetings, including agendas, materials, and follow-up actions.
- Support the CCMO in developing key internal and external messages, speeches, presentations, reports, and other executive communications.
- Help shape and maintain a consistent corporate narrative aligned with the company's mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with leaders across CMWO and other corporate functions, including Finance, HR, and IT, to advance cross-functional priorities and initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison across the CMWO organization, its senior leaders, internal stakeholders, and organizational teams to ensure priorities, decisions, and key messages are communicated consistently.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve team efficiency, structure, workflows, well-being, project management, internal communication, and decision-making.
- Lead change management for new initiatives, process improvements, and organizational shifts.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of related experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
- Proven track record managing complex projects, events, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a large, matrixed organization and collaborate with senior leaders and diverse stakeholders.
- Strong corporate communications, brand, and marketing acumen, with experience preparing executive-level materials.
- Highly organized, analytical, and resourceful, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Ability to influence, build trust, and drive alignment across senior leaders and functions without relying on formal authority.
- Resilient and adaptable, with flexibility to work extended hours as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Leidos systems and digital tools, including Workday, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, CVENT, and SharePoint.
