Greif is seeking a highly driven Territory Sales Manager to accelerate growth across Eastern Canada through the acquisition of new customers and expansion into new markets. This position is focused on hunting for new business opportunities, securing new logos, and building a strong pipeline of prospects throughout Quebec and Ontario.
The ideal candidate is a true sales hunter who thrives on prospecting, networking, cold outreach, and developing customer relationships that result in long-term business partnerships. While maintaining existing accounts is important, the primary objective of this role is to identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities that drive profitable growth.
This opportunity is well suited for a road warrior who enjoys spending significant time in the field meeting customers, uncovering opportunities, and converting prospects into Greif customers.
What You'll Do
As a Territory Sales Manager, you will own the business development strategy for your territory and be accountable for generating new revenue through the acquisition of new customers. You will partner with internal teams to deliver solutions that meet customer needs while expanding Greif's presence within the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a territory growth strategy focused on acquiring new customers and expanding Greif's market share.
- Generate and convert new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, cold outreach, industry events, and relationship building.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospects and new logo opportunities.
- Own a defined territory and deliver revenue, volume, and profitability objectives through disciplined opportunity management.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans for key opportunities and growth-focused customers.
- Prepare, present, and negotiate proposals, pricing agreements, and customer contracts.
- Utilize value-selling techniques and pricing strategies to maximize profitability and long-term customer value.
- Accurately forecast monthly and quarterly sales results and proactively manage business opportunities.
- Coordinate plant visits, product trials, customer presentations, and technical consultations to support the sales process.
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Operations, Supply Chain, and Inside Sales teams to ensure successful onboarding and ongoing customer support.
- Utilize CRM tools to effectively manage pipeline activity, opportunity progression, forecasts, and customer information.
- Address customer service and quality concerns by partnering with cross-functional teams to implement timely solutions.
- Develop relationships across customer organizations, including purchasing, operations, engineering, and executive leadership.
- Champion Greif's commitment to safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction during all customer interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Local presence matters: Must be located within or near Montreal, Quebec or Toronto, Ontario and willing to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.
- Comfortable with frequent local and overnight travel.
- Proven success securing new customers and driving organic sales growth.
- Demonstrated track record of winning new business and acquiring new logos.
- Strong prospecting, cold-calling, networking, and business development skills.
- Hunter mentality with a passion for pursuing and closing new opportunities.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage a territory, and consistently deliver results.
- Strong proficiency in both French and English preferred.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 4-8 years of outside sales, business development, or territory management experience.
- Demonstrated history of identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities.
- Experience managing long sales cycles and complex customer buying processes.
- Industrial packaging industry experience preferred.
- Experience within paper, plastics, manufacturing, distribution, or related industrial markets is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with CRM systems for opportunity management, forecasting, pipeline tracking, and customer relationship management.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with demonstrated pricing and negotiation expertise.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Ability to analyze sales and market data and develop actionable growth strategies.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, Customer Service, and Sales teams.
- Highly organized with strong time management and territory planning capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of customer engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to influence decision-makers and build long-term business relationships.
- Experience conducting business reviews, opportunity assessments, pipeline reviews, and strategic account planning.
- Self-motivated, competitive, and results-oriented with a strong desire to win new business.

Total Target Compensation Range: The total target compensation range for this position, including sales incentives, is $103,800 – $166,100. Typically, a competitive range for new hires will fall between $110,000 – $150,000. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position is eligible for participation in the company’s sales compensation plan
