The Director, Brand Communications is a strategic communications leader responsible for shaping and amplifying the Dentsu Creative brand across internal and external channels in the U.S. Reporting to the VP, Communications Lead, North America, this role develops integrated communications strategies that strengthen reputation, elevate thought leadership and client fame, and position Dentsu Creative at the intersection of creativity, technology, culture, and business transformation.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional storyteller, strategic relationship builder, and trusted advisor who partners closely with leaders across the creative business to translate priorities and innovations into compelling narratives. Balancing strategy with execution, the Director will identify high-impact client stories, lead thought leadership initiatives, support executive visibility, and drive communications programs that enhance Dentsu Creative's profile, influence, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Narrative, Thought Leadership & Reputation
- Shape and steward Dentsu Creative's brand narrative in partnership with the leadership team, ensuring consistency across key communications channels and audiences.
- Develop integrated communications strategies that strengthen reputation, support business objectives, and reinforce Dentsu Creative's market position.
- Identify, develop, and amplify high-impact stories across clients, capabilities, culture, innovation, and thought leadership.
- Build and elevate executive thought leadership platforms through media, speaking opportunities, owned content, and industry engagement including brand sponsorships.
- Partner with senior leaders to define communications strategies that support visibility, influence, and strategic business priorities.
- Help position Dentsu Creative as a leader in creativity, technology, culture, AI, and business transformation through proactive storytelling and industry engagement.
External Communications & Media Relations
- Lead communications plans for agency announcements, thought leadership initiatives, creative campaigns, events and key business moments.
- Manage media relations activities, including messaging development, press materials, media outreach, and agency coordination.
- Manage and support speaking engagements, awards, and industry opportunities that elevate the agency, its leaders, and its work.
- Monitor emerging industry trends and identify opportunities to proactively insert Dentsu Creative into relevant conversations.
Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
- Partner on the development and execution of internal communications that align employees to company priorities, initiatives, and culture alongside the senior manager of internal communications
- Create leadership communications, including executive announcements, town halls, employee forums, and key organizational updates.
- Manage editorial planning and communications calendars to ensure coordinated storytelling across business priorities and key moments.
Stakeholder Partnership & Communications Leadership
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to stakeholders across Dentsu Creative and the broader dentsu network.
- Lead multiple communications initiatives simultaneously, balancing long-term planning with real-time business needs.
- Foster strong cross-functional partnerships with marketing, social, creative, client, and corporate teams to deliver integrated communications programs.
- Identify opportunities to improve communications processes, planning, and measurement to increase effectiveness and impact.
Dentsu Creative Integrated Brand Leadership
- Lead the Dentsu Creative Marketing & Communications support team, providing strategic direction and ensuring alignment across brand, communications, and marketing initiatives.
- Manage and develop a team (2x direct reports) responsible for internal communications, brand communications, and marketing programs, fostering collaboration and high-quality execution.
- Serve as the connective thread between U.S. Dentsu Creative stakeholders and the Global Dentsu Creative communications team, ensuring alignment to brand priorities, integrated planning, and consistent storytelling across markets.
Requirements
- 10+ years of communications experience, preferably within advertising, marketing, media, or related industries.
- Proven experience developing integrated communications strategies that span earned media, executive visibility, thought leadership, internal communications, and brand storytelling.
- Strong media relationships, including experience working with advertising, marketing, business, technology, and trade media.
- Demonstrated success translating complex business priorities into compelling narratives and communications programs.
- Experience supporting executive communications and thought leadership initiatives.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities, with the ability to influence across functions and levels.
- Experience managing agency partners, communications initiatives, and multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, exercise sound judgment, and advise senior leaders on sensitive communications matters.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Copilot, and communications/content management platforms.

Dentsu may designate other Hub offices at any time. Those who live outside a commutable range may be designated as remote, depending on the role and business needs. Regardless of your work location, we expect our employees to be flexible to meet the needs of our Company and clients, which may include attendance in an office.
The annual salary range for this position is $136,850-$160,000. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
