The Multimedia Design Manager is responsible for managing the Graphic Design team for the Canada Region Marketing Team and driving the development of high-quality visual communications that strengthen the organization’s brand and strategic marketing objectives. This is a new position.
Reporting to the Marketing Director/Strategic Marketing Lead – Canada Region, this role oversees the planning, creation, and execution of multimedia, graphic design, and digital content initiatives across a variety of platforms. The Multimedia Design Manager provides creative and operational leadership, manages team performance, workload and resources, ensures brand consistency and quality, and collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to prioritize and deliver innovative and impactful visual solutions. The role also drives efficient creative workflows, stays current with emerging technologies and AI, and supports the continuous improvement of creative processes and capabilities across the team.
Key Responsibilities
Creative content operations management
- Oversee the day-to-day operation, capacity and delegation of the creative team, who are direct reports.
- Lead the creative function for a market sector or region including strategy development and execution.
- Manage a creative team, coaching and mentoring team members to support career development.
- Maintain accountability for creative direction and output, including brand compliance, management of design systems, regular reviews, and monitoring success.
Brand and content leadership
- Collaborate with marketing leadership to ensure creative strategy aligns with brand strategy, marketing objectives, and performance metrics.
- Serve as a brand ambassador, working with teams to develop and maintain the visual identity guidelines.
- Stay hands-on with multimedia content creation, including digital graphics, social media content, motion graphics, video production, and presentation design, ensuring all outputs meet quality and brand standards.
- Participate in the planning and execution of marketing campaigns, ensuring creative outputs are aligned, cohesive, and effectively support campaign goals with the MarComm team.
Innovation and AI
- Engage with global technology partners and industry experts to stay current on trends and disseminate knowledge across the team.
- Stay current with AI and other innovations to improve efficiency.
Workflow optimization
- Identify and eliminate operational inefficiencies and bottlenecks by creating, optimizing, and managing workflows for all creative initiatives.
- Prioritize projects with marketing team and senior leaders.
Resource allocation + scheduling
- Triage creative intake assigning the right creative resources to ensure success.
- Collaborate with the creative team to build clear schedules for each project and coordinate cross-functional collaboration.
- Lead and oversee complex workflows, specialists, and resources, ensuring marketing and brand objectives are supported efficiently.
Proofing and review
- Review and guide design work, mentoring team members and providing art direction and coaching support as needed during new branding initiatives or complex projects to ensure quality and consistency.
- Provide creative direction and oversight of work-winning processes, collaborating with teams to develop strategies, optimize workflows, and achieve long-term objectives.
Asset Management:
- Oversee direct reports as they develop their own asset libraries, providing guidance to ensure consistency, usability, and alignment with brand standards.
- Ensure all creative assets are stored in a version-controlled repository to maintain consistency, usability, and easy access for marketing teams.
Minimum Requirements
Related university degree and 8 years of related experience.
Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, as well as 3D & Motion Design and Digital Illustration Tools.
Preferred Requirements:
- 15+ years of progressive experience leading graphic design initiatives, with a strong focus on marketing, communications, and pursuit support.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality work while maintaining brand integrity and design standards.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple workloads.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaborative and productive working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
