We offer creators a variety of ways to engage with their fans and build a lasting business, including paid memberships, free memberships, community chats, live video, and one-time purchases, along with a feed to discover—and get discovered by—people who share their interests.

Ultimately our goal is simple: fund the creative class. And we're leaders in that space, with:

  • $10 billion+ in revenue generated since Patreon's inception

  • 100 million+ free memberships for fans who may not be ready to pay just yet, and

  • 25 million+ paid memberships on Patreon today.

We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best discovery platform with the best team in the creator economy, and are looking for a Director of Product Marketing to support our mission.

This role is based in New York or San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.

About the Team

MarComms (Marketing & Communications) at Patreon is a scrappy and mighty team made up of our Brand Marketing, Product Marketing, Lifecycle Marketing, Creative, PR, Events, Social, Creator Partnerships, Media, Video, and Program Management teams. Our key cross-functional partners include Product, Acquisitions, and Creator Success teams. The Director of Product Marketing role reports to the SVP, Marketing.

About the Role

Patreon is building the defining platform for the creator economy and we're looking for a Director of Product Marketing to shape how we tell that story to the world.

As Director of Product Marketing, you'll be the connective tissue between our product and the creators and fans we serve. You'll define how Patreon positions its product in the market, translate complex features into compelling value propositions, and lead the go-to-market strategy for everything we ship. This is a role for someone who thinks in systems: you see how positioning, messaging, and launch execution compound over time into a brand that creators trust and fans love.

Reporting to the SVP of Marketing, you'll partner closely with Brand, Creative, Social, Comms, and Creator-facing teams to ensure that Patreon's product investments land with the creators and fans they were built for. You'll bring the voice of the market into product decisions and the voice of product into the market. And you'll build and lead the team that makes both happen at scale.

What you'll do

  • Own Patreon's product positioning and messaging framework. This includes defining who we're for, what makes us different, and how to articulate our value at every stage of the creator and fan journey

  • Lead go-to-market strategy for major product launches, coordinating cross-functional execution from narrative development to adoption measurement

  • Build and maintain deep market intelligence: understand creator and fan motivations, competitive alternatives, category trends, and unmet needs that inform both product and marketing strategies

  • Partner with Product leadership to influence roadmap prioritization by surfacing insights that sharpen our bets and reveal emerging opportunities

  • Develop the tools, frameworks, and narratives that enable Creator Success, Partnerships, and Acquisitions teams to pitch Patreon's value with conviction

  • Define how we measure product marketing impact — from feature adoption to creator activation — and build the feedback loop that connects market outcomes back to product and leadership

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing Product Marketing team

About You

  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role owning positioning and go-to-market strategy for a consumer or creator-facing product

  • Proven track record of leading high-impact product launches end-to-end from defining the narrative to driving measurable adoption and retention outcomes

  • Sharp strategic instincts paired with strong executional range; you're as comfortable writing a messaging framework as you are running a launch command room

  • Deep experience translating complex product capabilities into clear, compelling value propositions for non-technical audiences

  • A natural collaborator who builds trust quickly with Product, Brand, and Growth teams and knows how to align competing priorities without losing momentum

  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing teams; you take mentorship seriously and create an environment where PMMs do their best work

  • Experience using market research, customer insights, and competitive intelligence to influence both marketing strategy and product roadmap

  • Some experience in a marketplace, platform, or two-sided business is a plus. You understand the nuance of marketing to both sides of a network

  • A genuine passion for the creator economy and curiosity about how creators build audiences and businesses
